The 60s: The Music and the Movement Fundraising Weekend Events

The 60s: The Music and the Movement hosted by ACHG Superstars, a fundraiser for The Gullah/Geechee Angel Network; and CRAVES Soul Food along with CEDAS (Comfort Educational and Development Assistance Services) presents “An Authentic Taste of Africa and Charleston Gullah Soul food”.
ACHG Superstars is teaming up The Gullah/Geechee Angel Network to present The 60s: The Music and the Movement!

For those of you not familiar with these incredible organizations, let me give you the 411!

The Gullah/Geechee Angel Network is a 501c nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve, protect and promote the cultural heritage of the Gullah Geechee people who have lived in the southeastern portion of the United States of America from North Carolina to Jacksonville Florida 30 miles inland (known as the "Low Country") for over 300 years; as well as to connect all people, not just in the 50 states, but internationally throughout the Diaspora, Europe, Caribbean and Africa.

They also have “Goals and Objectives” which are achieved by the implementation of a seven (7) point program: 1) The Performing Arts, 2) Arts and Crafts, 3) Educational, 4) Scholarships and Awards, 5) The Internet and The Media, 6) Production, Preservation and Documentation and last but not least 7) Health and Nutrition Awareness.

The Gullah/Geechee Angel Network’s purpose for this fundraiser is to build education centers to empower our at-risk youths.

Hosting this powerful event is ACHG Superstars, who are all over the low country with their cameras spot lighting and talking about our schools, laws, government, church, events, and positive entertainment of all kinds!

This dynamic duo will be presenting to the public their first fundraising event, which will be taking place on February 23, 2013 at Ardy’s Resort, 2261 Margaret Grey Drive, Wadmalaw Island, S.C. from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

And on Sunday Feb 24, 2013 – CRAVES Soul Food and CEDAS from 12:00 PM to 4 PM North Charleston, SC.

 CRAVES Soul Food along with CEDAS (Comfort Educational and Development Assistance Services) will present, “An Authentic Taste of Africa and Charleston Gullah Soul food”!!!!

CRAVES Soul Food provides the kind of cooking that evokes memories of home and family, and is prepared with the same main ingredient- Love. CRAVES Soul Food is prepared using the original African American Low country cooking traditions as handed down from generation to generation.
CEDAS, founded by Comfort Agyeman, goals are to raise awareness, fund students’ education and support Africa. The group is conducting various projects and creating connections while expanding throughout different regions of Africa. A portion of the proceeds will be for pregnancy prevention, anger management and health awareness in Africa.

There will be dining, vendors as well as African dancers and drumming for entertainment and more!!!

So make sure to come on out to Scott’s Grand Banquet Hall, 5060 Dorchester Road, Suite #320, North Charleston, near the North Charleston Coliseum from 12 noon until 4 pm.

Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door.

Wineglass Gullah/Geechee Productions

I am a Gullah/Geechee (descendent of formerly enslaved West Africans residing on the Southeastern Coast of the U.S., from Cape Fear, North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida, including the Sea Islands and extending 30 miles inland) Screenplay Writer and Independent Filmmaker, passionate about exploring, highlighting and showcasing the diverse stories and life experiences of Gullah/Geechees; Good, Bad and Indifferent.
